Divisional commander among four HUJI militants killed in Udhampur

Jammu, Jan 4 (UNI) Four Harkat-ul-Jehad-Islami (HUJI) militants, including its divisional commander Abu Salem, were killed during an encounter with security forces at Gool in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir today.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of some Pakistani militants in higher reaches of Gool, troops of 58 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) conducted a search operation early today, Inspector General of Police (IGP) S P Vaid told UNI.

He said during the operation, a fierce gun-battle took place in which four militants had been killed. A large number of arms and ammunition had been recovered from the slain militants, he added.

Besides Abu Salem, a hard-core Pakistani terrorist, other slain militants were identified as Abu Sophian, Abu Sadiq and Abu Hamja.
