CM's inefficiency responsbile for LDF Govt's poor performance

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 4 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader K Karunakaran today alleged that Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan's ''inefficiency'' was responsbile for the "failure" of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala.

Talking to newspersons here, he said ''as the performance of a government is assesed on the basis of the efficiency of the Chief Minister, Mr Achuthanandan was responsible for the "failure.'' Mr Karunakaran said the political party, which led the government was also equally responsible for it.

Terming the seven-month rule of the LDF government as ''disappointing and not upto to expectations of the people,'' he said his party would organise an agitation to force the government to correct its mistakes. However, he clarified that it had no intention to ''unseat'' the government.

Regarding the ADB loan issue, he alleged that it was nothing but to hide the "failure" of the government.

He said there was no justification in victimising the officials, as no policy matters could be taken without the knowledge of the Cabinet. The officials duty was to sign the papers, he said adding that the Chief Minister should have known everything about the administration.

The government "failed" to solve serious problems like price hike, stalemate in higher education, deteriorating law and order situation and crisis in the farm sector, he charged.

On the High Court qashing certain sections in the Self-Financing Professional Colleges Act, Mr Karunakaran said ''we had expected it earlier.'' UNI
