All India strike in 102 Gramin Banks tomorrow

Kolkata, Jan 4 (UNI) About 70,000 officers and employees of 102 Regional Rural Banks spread across about 14,000 branches in 522 districts of the country will go on strike tomorrow at the call of Joint Forum of Gramin Bank Unions.

The employees are demanding among others implementation of banking pension settlement, parity with sponsor banks in payment of allowances and benefits, continuance of compassionate appointment scheme and uniform manpower planning, recruitment and promotion policy, a union release said.

The union threatened further agitational programmes, including dharna before Parliament during the budget session, if the central government failed to settle their demands.
