6 drown as boat capsizes in UP

Chitrakoot, UP, Jan 4 (UNI) At least six people were killed after their boat capsized in river Yamuna here this morning.

The accident occurred a day after a similar boat tragedy in river Gomti at Lucknow claimed nine lives.

Police said 18 people were travelling in a boat from village Kopa to neighbouring Kaushambhi district, when the incident took place.

Four people, including the boatman and two women managed to swim to the shore.

Efforts were on to recover the bodies.

''Although, we have so far not recovered any body, it is feared that six people have died,'' Police Superintendent N Ravindra said.
