4 Pakistani militants gunned down in Udhampur

Jammu, Jan 4: Security forces today gunned down four Pakistani militants of Hurkat-ul-Mujahideen outfit in an encounter at Gool in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said here this morning.

Police said, acting on tip-off about the presence of some Pakistani terrorists in high reaches of Gool, troops of 58 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) started a search operation early today.

''During the operation a fierce gun-battle took place in which four Pakistani militants where eliminated. The encounter is still on,'' police said.

Army sources, however, confirmed that only two militants have been killed so far.

''The operation is still continuing and we have received information that two HUM militants were killed so far,'' army sources said.
