150th anniversary celebrations of TN police

Chennai, Jan 4 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today called upon police personnel to ensure safety and protection of the citizens and work towards creating peaceful atmosphere in society.

Inaugurating the 150th year celebrations of Chennai Metropolitan Police here, he announced medals for 15,000 police personnel who had been put in service for six months in the Chennai City police between April 25, 2006 and April 26 this year.

He said to recognise the services of city police, the Government would honour 14,973 police personnel with arm patches.

The Government would honour Durairaj, Joint Commissioner of Police, South, for solving the case relating to kidnap and murder of an 11-year-old boy in the city recently, within a short span.
