Zicom to create survellience system for Kolkata Metro
Kolkata, Jan 03 (UNI) Zicom Electronic Security Systems Ltd, a security solutions provider, is creating survellience system for Kolkata Metro Railways.
Speaking to mediapersons here today, Zicom Chairman Manohar Bidaye said,'' We are creating survellience network in all the existing 17 metro stations and the new stations that are coming up.
Cameras and digital video recording system has already been set up besides other security devices.'' The project would cost Rs 3 crore, sources said.
The Metro Railway Bhawan, the head office, would be networked and employees sitting in the head office would be able to monitor the stations from remote locations. ''This will help the railway authorities to avert terrorist attacks or burglaries. In the second phase, we will create security systems in the trains as well,'' he said.
The company had taken up a mega railway project in Mumbai after serial blasts in several stations on July 11, 2006. ''The Rs 100 crore project has been taken up to bring the Eastern and Central Railways under the survellience system. All the stations in these railways, platforms and trains will have hidden cameras and the stations and trains would be monitored round the clock,'' he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Bidaye said the company is also in talks with the West Bengal government to set up similar security systems for Kolkata police, National Library, Indian Museum and Kalighat and Birla temple.
