Two minors raped in city since yesterday

Guwahati, Jan 3 (UNI) Two minors were allegedly raped in separate incidents in the city since last evening, police said today.

A five-year-old girl was molested by the owner of a PCO at Saru Motoria area, near capital Dispur, this morning. When the girl, who lived in the neighbourhood, screamed, the neighbours rushed to the PCO and beat up the owner Ravi Sharma, who was ater handed over to the police.

In another incident last evening, a nine-year-old girl was molested allegedly by the deputy superintendent of local Nehru Stadium in the stadium premises.

The girl, who lived in the residential quarters, was alone at home as her parents had gone to their native village.

The accused, Sualab Chandra Mohanty, who hails from Orrisa, took the victim with him on the pretext of taking her to watch television. Mohanty was apparently known to the family as the mother of the victim is a swimming coach there.

He took the girl to a gallery of the stadium and raped her.

The accused was absconding.
