SP MLA Sunilam arrested, starts hunger strike in jail
Betul, MP, Jan 3 (UNI) Samajwadi Party National Secretary and Multai legislator Sunilam was today arrested along with 17 people under section 151 of the IPC.
Superintendent of Police Jagat Singh told UNI over telephone that Dr Sunilam was arrested in view of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's security.
He said barricades, put in place as a part of VIP security for Mr Chouhan, were broken. In this connection, Dr Sunilam was arrested in view of maintaining security arrangements.
Dr Sunilam has started hunger strike in the jail along with state Kisan Sangharsh Samiti President Tanti Choudhary to protest the ''murder of democracy.'' He alleged that he was not allowed to meet Mr Chouhan and present a memorandum to him.
''Preventing a legislator from meeting the Chief Minister and submitting a memorandum to him amounts to murder of democracy,'' he said.
