Sankararaman murder case hearing posted to Feb 2
Puducherry, Jan 3: A local court hearing the Sankararaman murder case in which Kanchi acharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijeyndra Saraswathi are prime accused today posted the case to February 2.
Eighteen of the 24 accused, including the acharyas, were not present when the case came up before Puducherry principal district and sessions judge M Chinna Pandy today.
Separate petitions were filed by their respective counsel citing the reason for their absence.
The judge questioned an accused Ravi alias Kuruvi Ravi for his continued absence for the last four hearings even though petitions were filed and he was apprised that it was due to the death of his sister-in-law.
Since, the proceedings of the case could not be conducted here as a Special Leave Petition (SLP) on the continued appearance of the Tamil Nadu Special Public Prosecutor in the case was pending before the Supreme Court, the judge posted the case to February two.
