Sanclecha takes five to restrict Guj to 369; Maharashtra 72-1
Nashik, Jan 3 (UNI) Medium pacer A Sanclecha brought Maharashtra back into the match with a fiery spell as Gujarat, crashed to 369 all out on the second day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Elite division group 'B' match played at the Golf Club ground here today.
At close of play Maharashtra had made a confident start to their first innings replying to Gujarat's 369, reaching 72 for one wicket with Hrishikesh Kanitkar on 39 and H Khadiwale on 20 at the crease.
Earlier, Gujarat starting the day at 200 for two, lost their overnight batsmen Parthiv Patel for 15 and Neeraj Patel who completed his century before falling for 112, both dismissed by Sanclecha to leave Gujarat at four to 231.
This was the opening the Maharashtra bowlers were looking for and if it was not for a fighting half century by Kirit Damani who made 52, Gujarat would have struggled to reach 300.
Beginning their reply, Maharashtra lost opener Dheeraj Jadhav early for only eight caught behind by Parthiv Patel of K Damani with the team score at 20. Kanitkar then joined Khadiwale and the two took their team to stumps without any further loss taking the score to 72.
