Pondy CM gives Rs 1 cr for Mahe Station facelift
Puducherry, Jan 3 (UNI) Acknowledging the demand of the people of Mahe Region of the union territory, Chief Minister N Rangasamy today announced the provision of Rs one crore to the Railways to spruce up passenger amenities at the Mahe Railway Station for boosting tourism inflow to the region.
Mr Rangasamy made the announcement while addressing a public meeting at the Mahe Railway Station immediately after flagging off the extended Chennai-Coimbatore train providing connectivity to Puducherry, an offical release here today said.
The amount was envisaged to be utilised for providing a French Gothic model facade and architecture to the historical Mahe Station building besides establishing comfortable waiting halls, platforms, and touch screen kiosks.
Earlier, Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu flagged off the train.
