Pless pleased, Nalbandian sites injury as reason

Chennai, Jan 2 (UNI) For the Dane, Kristian Pless it was a special day today as he stole the limelight causing the first big upset in the Chennai Open 2007 ousting the second seed David Nalbandian.

The win was special for two reasons: first it was sweet revenge for the two previous defeats he had suffered at the hands of Nalbandian and second, Pless came back into the match after losing the first set.

''He gave me a lot of chances to come back'', Pless said when asked how it felt coming back after being down by a set. Both of us played well in the first set, he said.

However, Nalbandian had a different story to tell about his unexpected defeat. ''From 3-1 in the second set I started feeling pain in my left leg. I have tendinitis'', he explained.

Nalbandian said his shots were not deep as in the beginning. ''I couldn't push the ball the way I wanted'', he averred.

The Argentine said after winning the first set, he hoped to win in two sets. ''But things change as it happened in this match'', he lamented.

Nalbandian said he could not get his serve in. ''I started well but I couldn't push myself much after pain gripped me'', he said adding he hoped that he would be all right by next week.
