One dead, several missing in boat accident

Lucknow, Jan 3 (UNI) At least one person died and 12 others were reported missing after a boat capsized in the river Gomti near here today.

Police said the boat carrying 25 people to a temple at Dadomau Ghat in Saloni village capsized midway.

While the body of one of the victims was recovered, 12 others were still missing. The other managed to swim ashore.

Rescue teams, including divers, were rushed to the spot, 30 km from the district headquarters.

Thousands of people visit the Devi Mela on Dadomau Ghat, and are ferried to the site on overloaded boats.
