Bhopal, Jan 3 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today denied shortage of urea for the rabi crop saying at present there was no crisis.

The supply situation has improved after his meeting with Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Ramvilas Paswan few days ago, Mr Chouhan told reporters here, adding he was satisfied with the talks.

Claiming that the state government had put up a requisition with the Centre in August itself for supplying 8 lakh tonnes of urea, the Chief Minister said there was a gap of 15 days in allotment and supply. At present there is no crisis, he added.

He claimed that three-phase power supply for 8 to 10 hours in 24 hours was ensured to farmers in rural areas. For the first time, the peak hour supply touched 6100 megawatt, he added.

Mr Chouhan said a Rs 2700 crore scheme had been finalised for repair and changing the transmission and distribution lines to meet the infrastructure shortcomings.
