No further talks with Kerala on Mullaperiyar: Ramadoss

Chennai, Jan 3 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S Ramadoss today said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had assured him that there would be no further talks with Kerala government on the contentious Mullaperiyar issue.

Talking to reporters after calling on Mr Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence here, Dr Ramadoss said he discussed various issues, including the dispute with Kerala over the Mullaperiyar dam, with the Chief Minister.

Stating that Mr Karunanidhi had assured him that the government would not hold talks with Kerala anymore on the vexed issue, he expressed the hope that a positive outcome would emerge for Tamil Nadu.

Dr Ramadoss, whose party is a key constituent of the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance in the state, also said he impressed upon the Chief Minister to make efforts for the implementation of 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in toto from this academic year.

The Sri Lankan issue was also discussed in the meeting, he added.
