Nithari killing case:6 cops dismissed

Lucknow, Jan 3 (UNI) Taking a stern step into the Nithari serial killing incident, the Uttar Pradesh govenment tonight dismissed from service six policemen and suspended three others, including former SSP of Gautam Budhanagar district.

State Chief Secretary N C Bajpai along with Principal Secretary (Home) S K Agarwal and DGP Bua Singh announced the decision of the state government.

Mr Bajpai said former SSP of Gautam Budhanagar Pyush Mordya, presently posted at SSP, Ghaziabad and former ASP Swamitra Yadav and Circle Officer Sevak Ram have been suspended with immediate effect.

The government also dismissed six sub- inspector rank officers Rajeev Baliyan, Kanwar Pal Singh, Vinod Pandey, Ms Simranjeet Kaur, R N Singh and Deepak Chaturvedi, who were posted at sector 20 police station.

Mr Bajpai said more action would follow after the two-member committee submitted its report and if required, FIR would be lodged against these erring cops.

Against the backdrop of the Nithari killings in Noida, the Allahabad High Court today directed the Uttar Pradesh principal secretary (home) and DGP for spelling out measures taken regarding missing children in the state.

A bench comprising Justices Amar Saran and R N Mishra directed the station officer of various police stations to forthwith register reports of missing or abducted children or girls, and not to turn away the informants on flimsy grounds.

The DGP has been directed to furnish information to the High Court about the registration of cases in different police stations on the number of children who were missing at present. The HC observed the information be categorised for the cases of children up to five years, 5-10 years and 10-18 years. The court will hear the case on February 6.

Meanwhile, the state government has increased the compensation to victims of the Noida case to Rs 5 lakh.
