Mumbai: Naval Dockyard to conduct 'Heritage Walk'

Mumbai, Jan 3: In order to create awareness of the rich historical background of the Naval Dockyard located in South Central Mumbai, the Western Fleet of the Navy will conduct a ''Heritage Walk'' on the first Sunday of every month.

The Dockyard will be thrown open to Indian visitors on first Sunday of each month from 1000 hours to 1200 hours, a defence communique here said. The highlight of the walk is a model of Her Majesty's Ship (HMS) Trincomalee built in the Naval Dockyard and which is the oldest in the world still afloat.

In addition, the ''Heritage Walk'' will highlight the glorious 250 years of the Dockyard, seven generations of Wadia ship builders, dry docks for repairs of warships, tour of Bombay Castle, layout mechanism of 100 years of old clock, and Indian Museum Ship (IMS) Vikrant.
