Muslims offer 'quarbani' in the name of Saddam during ID

Mumbai, Jan 3 (UNI) Hundreds of members of the Muslim community in the metropolis today offered 'quarbani' (sacrifice) of goat in the name of toppeled Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, on the occasion of the third day of the annual Id celebrations.

Today is the Tiwasi-Id and goats were slaughtered to mark the auspicious occasion.

In the name of Saddam Hussain, several goats were slaughtered in Nagpada, Madanpura and Bandra areas of the city. Similar reports have been received from the neighbouring Muslim-dominated township of Mumbra in Thane district.

''Saddam Hussein's killing is a loss to the Muslim community,'' said Nadeem Ansari , who slaughtered a goat in the name of the executed Iraqi dictator.

Tomorrow, the Muslim community will observe a 'Black Day' to condemn the killing of the Iraqi leader on the eve of the Id celebrations on a call was given by several Islamic organisations, including Muslim Majlis-e-Shura and Wahaedate Millat council.

A travel agent, Afazal Shaikh who has sent several people to Iraq in the past, said that '' the execution of Saddam Hussein is a blot on US President George Bush.'' It is also to be noted that after the slaughter, skins of goat are collected at skin collection centres.

Incidentally, this time around, several of them were named as Saddam Skin Collection Centres.
