MP to become developed state in two years: Chouhan

Betul, MP, Jan 3 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said the state which was earlier categorised as backward, would become developed in the next two years.

Mr Chouhan, while addressing golden jubilee celebration programme of the Jaywanti Haksar Government post-graduate college, said five lakh employment opportunities would be created in the coming year.

He announced Rs 50 lakh for various construction works in the college on the occasion.

Mr Chouhan said the state government had decided to merge 50 per cent of dearness allowance of its employees into their basic pay.

Stressing on the need for abolishing discrimination between son and daughter, Mr Chouhan said the government was launching a scheme under which a girl taking birth in a poor family would not be a burden on her parents, as her education and other needs would be taken care of.

The state government would recruit 50 per cent women while selecting candidates for contract teachers, he said.

Besides, the government was forming Rani Durgawati battalion for girls.

The Chief Minister said the government helped 2.5 lakh girls of poor families get married last year.

However, this year the limit of being poor had been removed and even the girl from families claiming to be unable to bear their expense, would be married.

He said the government was committed for overall development of the state including development of resources such as electricity, water, road and other resources.

Expressing concern over the education mechanism, he felt their was a need for improvement in the system for education so that humans became humans and students became honest and hard-working.

He asked students to work hard and promised that he would provide necessary resources.

The Chief Minister unveiled the statue of Jaywanti Haksar and released a souvenir on the occasion.
