Moderate quake hits Nicobar islands

New Delhi, Jan 3 (UNI) A moderate quake, measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale, hit the Nicobar Islands this evening, the Indian Meteorological Department said.

The quake, epicentred at 05.6 Degree N Latitude and 93.3 Deg E Longitude, occured off the coast of Nicobar islands at 1818 hours, the Met office said.

There were, however, no reports of any loss of life.
