MLA booked for violating model code of conduct
Hardwar, Jan 3 (UNI) A case has been registered against Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Shahzad Ali allegedly for violating the model code of conduct.
The case was registered yesterday against Mr Ali, MLA from Bahadrabad assembly constituency after receiving a complaint that he was inaugurating a road constructed from the funds of the state plan, in village Subhashnagar.
The SDM (sadar) and Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) S L Semwal, along with the SHO Anand Singh Kaithat of Ranipur police station reached the spot and removed the road inauguration board with the name of the MLA written on it.
There were heated exchanges between the supporters of the MLA and other party workers, who had gathered at the site.
Mr Ali, however, denied inaugurating any road and said he had simply gone to meet people in the village.
The SDM (sadar) and ARO told UNI that a case under clauses 171 B, 171 C and 171 G of the section 123 of the People Representation Act had been filed in the Ranipur Kotwali.
The District Election Officer and the Chief Electoral Officer of the state had been informed about the case.
