Meteor shower tonight
New Delhi, Jan 3 (UNI) The country will witness the blue-green meteor shower 'Quandrantids' tonight till early hours tomorrow.
Nehru Planetarium Director N Ratnasree said about 120 meteors per hour can be observed at the peak time, which is considered high for this activity.
The fast-moving 'Quandrantids', which travel at the speed of 10 to 30 km per second, display takes place around January 3 every year.
The peak of th celestial display will be around 0300 hrs tomorrow.
However, full moon and mist can reduce the visibility.
''City areas might experience reduced visibility due to mist and full moon, Fewer and only bright meteors can be seen,'' Ms Ratnasree said.
The shower will be clearer in the dark skies outside the city limits, especially in south India, she added.
