MCD seals 108 units, traders meet Patil, Reddy; demand amnesty sch

New Delhi, Jan 3 (UNI) The MCD today sealed 108 units, including the Amity School of Law in Central zone, even as the traders met Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to demand incorporation of remedial measures for sealing in the 2021 Master Plan.

During its sealing drive, the MCD sealed 108 commercial units in Central, Najafgarh, Civil lines and Shahdara zones Of these, 10 units were sealed at Okhla Road falling in Central Zone. The major premises sealed included Amity School of Law and MCT House. The land was allotted by DDA for running school for mentally retarded children. But, the charitable institute to which the land was allotted converted the premises into commercial units.

In Najafgarh Zone, 76 units were sealed from Rawata Marg to Daurala Village. 12 units were sealed at Auchanti Road from Bhamashah Road to Chhatrasal Stadium falling in Civil Lines Zone while 10 units were sealed at Vikas Marg to Jittar Nagar Crossing falling in Shahdara (South) Zone.

The number of units sealed since the resumption of the sealing drive on November 8, as per orders of the Supreme Court, is 3915.

Meanwhile a delegation of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) met Mr Patil and Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy in the day to demand incorporation of remedial measures for sealing in Master Plan 2021.

They presented a memorandum demanding Amnesty Scheme or any similar measure to regularise business establishments that existed as on December 31 last year.
