Agra, Jan 3 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today assured that the guilty in the Kavita Rani murder case accused will not be spared.

Talking to mediapersons here, the Samajwadi Party supremo said ''I am not threatened by a CBI probe, but I have full faith in the UP Police. I am confident it will crack the case soon and anyone found guilty will be brought to book.'' On the alleged relationship of Kavita with UP primary education minister and senior SP leader Kiran Pal Singh, Mr Yadav said so far, the minister's involvement was not proved.

''It is just a conspiracy by vested forces to malign the SP's image, but their efforts would only turn futile,'' he added.

Kavita, a lecturer at the Meerut University, went missing two months ago. In letters found at her hostel room, she apprehended a threat to her life from Ravindra Pradhan, who surrendered before a Noida-based news channel on December 24.

The mystery behind the case turned murkier after the prime accused Ravindra alleged Kavita had intimate relationships with Kiran Pal and former UP irrigation minister Merajuddin.

Ravindra also claimed Kavita had shot obscene CDs of the two leaders and later blackmailed them to the tune of Rs 35 lakh.

Merajuddin has already resigned from the former union minister Ajit Singh-led Rashtriya Lok Dal's national executive.
