Jeev to spearhead Asian challene in WGC-CA Championship
Kuala Lumpur, Jan 3 (UNI) Star golfer Jeev Milkha Singh and the Thai duo of Thongchai Jaidee and Prom Meesawat, top-three finishers of the 2006 Asian Tour's UBS Order of Merit, have qualified for this year's World Golf Championships-CA Championship.
The elite eight million dollar event will be played at the Blue Monster Course at Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Doral, Florida, from March 19-25.
Korean duo Choi Kyung-ju and Yang Yong-eun, winner of the HSBC Champions in Shanghai when he beat Tiger Woods last November, are also both exempted into the lucrative event based on their world rankings where the top-50 players in the world are invited to the tournament.
After a dream year in 2006, Jeev catapulted from 319th to the 37th place in world rankings to ensure starts in all the majors as well.
The 2007 World Golf Championships-CA Championship will have an eight million dollar purse, with the game's top players competing for the 1.35 million dollar first-place prize besides the Gene Sarazen Cup.
