Indian wanting to see his family dies before boarding the flight

Dubai, Jan 3 (UNI) A 70-year old Indian, who was to fly back home in Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu after waiting to see his family for the past 14 years while living in a park after losing his job, died just 24 hours before he could board the flight.

Mohammed Kamal, who overstayed his residency permit and lost his passport but managed to obtain a temporary travel permit from the Indian consulate, was scheduled to fly home yesterday evening.

Kamal, who had come to UAE as a school helper, had worked for a while as a cook after losing his first job.

But his dream to go back home to spend the rest of his life with his family could not be fulfilled.

An acquaintance told the local press that Kamal had managed to buy some clothes and gifts for his family, but died on the park bench which was his last home.
