HC reserves judgement on SNC Lavalin case
Kochi, Jan 3 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today reserved judgement on review petitions filed by the State Government and the CBI and two other writ petitions relating to the SNC Lavalin case.
The review petition was filed by the State Government seeking withdrawal of its earlier statement on the writ petition of T P Nandakumar, who asked for a CBI inquiry, into the alleged irregularities in awarding a contract to Canadian company SNC Lavalin for renovation of three hydel projects in the state.
Supreme Court senior advocates C S Vaidyanathan and R K Anand and State Advocate General C P Sudhakara Prasad appeared for the State.
During arguments, the Court asked the AG why the government was afraid of a CBI probe into the deal.
The Court also asked the CBI under which law it decided not to investigate the case after giving an undertaking for a probe.
