Haryana: 125 villages identified for rural stadia

Chandigarh, Jan 3 (UNI) As many as 125 villages of Haryana have been identified for construction of sports stadia in the first phase of a programme aimed at providing sports infrastructure in rural areas of the state.

The State government had recently announced to construct sports stadia in a big villages in each block of the state so as to provide sports facilities.

Reviewing the progress in the implementation of this programme in an official meeting, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today directed the sports stadia be constructed expeditiously while maintaining quality of the works.

The work to construct 118 sports stadia has already been allotted and these would be got constructed by the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB).

The first phase of the programme would be completed in the next four months. More such villages would be covered in the second phase of the programme.

Each stadium would be developed over a minimum area of 6.5 acres and have facilities for both indoor and outdoor games. The stadium would have a multi-purpose hall, 400 metre track, flood lights, a stage and seating arrangement.
