CPI(M) women activists arrested
Visakhapatnam, Jan 3 (UNI) As many as 250 women activists of the CPI(M) including Deputy Floor Leader in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly M A Gafoor were arrested for organising dharnas in front of three mandal PRO offices at Chinagadili, Gajuwaka and Penduruthy here today.
CPI(M) District Secretary Ch Narasinga Rao told reporters here the dharnas were organised to protest against alleged witch-hunting by police.
He said a party delegation would meet the District Collector demanding a categorical assurance on the house sites issue.
The party would make a mass representation during state Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy's visit here on January six.
The CPI(M) would also hold a meeting on January 10 to chalk out an action plan for the state, he added.
