CPI(M) silent on Nandigram clash

Kolkata, Jan 3 (UNI) CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose today declined to comment on the clash between the villagers and policemen over the land acquisition for proposed industrial project for Indonesian Salim Group at Nandigram in East Midnapore in West Bengal.

''I am aware of the incident and asked the local committee to submit a report about the clash to the party headquarters here,'' Mr Bose told reporters after attending the three-day Central Committee meeting of the party.

'' I will comment after receiving the report from the local committee,'' he added.

Altogether six persons, including two policemen, were injured when a rioting mob of villagers clashed with lawkeepers over acquisition of land for industry at Nandigram this morning.
