Cong demands suspension of top police officials in Bidar
Bangalore, Jan 3 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly N Dharam Singh today demanded the suspension of top police officials, including the Superintendent of Police and Additional Superintendent of Police of Bidar district, for ''terrorising'' Dalits there.
Talking to reporters here, he accused the police of foisting cases on over 600 Dalits and innocent public in connection with the protests following the desecration of an Ambedkar statue in three separate incidents in the last two months.
Mr Singh said they had filed a case against Mr Basavaraj Patil Humnabad, MLC, who had taken part in a peace committee meeting on a police invitation following the social unrest.
The police were acting out of vendetta and the ''one sided administration'' was harassing the Congress workers, he alleged, stating that if no action was taken, his party would fight the issue inside and outside the Vidhan Soudha, the State Secretariat.
Mr Singh earlier met a delegation from Bidar district in this regard.
