CM reviews housing schemes' progress

Hyderabad, Jan 3 (UNI) Making it clear that funds would not be a problem for housing schemes, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed the officials to complete the works according to the schedule.

Reviewing the progress of housing schemes in the state with officials at the Secretariat at a meeting, Dr Reddy said he had already instructed the Finance Department to accord priority to irrigation and housing in fund allocation.

He was told as many as 17,81,943 houses had been allocated to the districts under the Rural Permanent Housing (RPH) of INDIRAMMA and 2,86,938 houses under flood housing.

Kadapa was leading in progress of INDIRAMMA (Rural) as on December last year with 68,677 of the 75,175 houses grounded.

However in districts like Anantapur and Kurnool, the programme lagged. The Department assured Dr Reddy of substantial improvement in grounding in these districts by the end of January.

In urban sector, 2,34,716 houses had been allocated finally to the districts under urban permanent housing (UPH) of which 2,27,809 houses were sanctioned at the district level and only 44,176 being grounded.

The total expenditure incurred on physical and financial progress of all programmes till last month was Rs 1,065.75 crore.

On the Rajiv Gruha Kalpa (RGK- Phase I), as on December 29 last year tenders were called for 45,558 flats and finalised for 45,558 flats. The flats grounded and documentation completed stood at 45,558.

The Chief Minister agreed to take up RGK-Phase II immediately.

The cost of single bedroom flats, including the land, would amount to around to Rs 4.50 lakh and double bedroom flats at Rs 6.50 lakh.
