Central grants to 15 states for improving water quality
New Delhi, Jan 3 (UNI) The Ministry of Rural Development has released funds worth crores of rupees under Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme (ARWSP) to 15 states during 2006-07.
The release is for execution/completion of schemes to provide safe drinking water facilities to rural habitations and schools under the Centrally Sponsored ARWSP (Normal) and also for tackling water quality affected habitations including areas coming under Desert Development Programme (DDP) under ARWSP (Quality) during the current financial year.
Uttar Pradesh would receive Rs 15.60 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal) and Rs 9 crore as part of first instalment under ARWSP (Quality). Gujarat would receive Rs 62.51 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal) and Rs. 5.09 crore as part of first instalment under ARWSP (Quality).
Rajasthan would get Rs 33 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal) and Rs. 32.62 crore as part of first instalment under ARWSP-DDP. Uttaranchal has been granted Rs 24.60 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal) Rs 4 crore as 2nd instalment of additional grants under ARWSP (Normal).
Madhya Pradesh would receive Rs 84 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal) Rs 22.50 crore as part of first instalment under ARWSP (Quality) while Chhatisgarh would get Rs 12 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal) and Rs. 3.55 crore as 2nd instalment of additional grants under ARWSP (Normal) and Rs. 7.33 crore as part of first instalment under ARWSP (Quality).
Arunachal Pradesh would get Rs 49 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal) and Rs 2.28 crore as 2nd instalment of additional grants under ARWSP (Normal) while Himachal Pradesh would receive Rs 48.32 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal) and Rs 22 lakh as second instalment under ARWSP-DDP.
Kerala would get Rs 31 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal) and Rs 3 crore as part of first instalment under ARWSP (Quality) while Karnataka would get Rs 87 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal) and Rs. 10 crore as second instalment under ARWSP-DDP.
Tripura would get Rs 15.11 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal) and Rs 80 lakh as 2nd instalment of additional grants under ARWSP (Normal) while Mizoram would get Rs. 14 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal) and Rs 64.50 lakh as 2nd instalment of additional grants under ARWSP (Normal) and Rs 27.50 lakh under ARWSP towards Monitoring&Investigation Units.
Maharashtra would get Rs 26 crore as part of first instalment under ARWSP (Quality) while Jammu&Kashmir would get Rs 87 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal). Tamil Nadu would get Rs58 crore as 2nd instalment under ARWSP (Normal).
