Ranchi, Jan 3 (UNI) Controversial Forward Bloc legislator Bhanu Pratap Shahi, who was released on bail last year, today said he was not in a hurry to replace his father Lal Hemendra Patap Dehati, Health Minister in the Madhu Koda government.

Mr Shahi, who had been remanded in judicial custody in connection with SC/ST atrocities Act, said his father was recently inducted in the UPA-backed government as a minister, so he did not wish to replace him.

Last night, the father-son duo had a formal meeting with Chief Minister Madhu Koda although exact deliberations were not yet known.

Mr Dehati is understood to have requested for the ''release'' of his son and expressed the same before the Chief Minister.

Mr Dehati alleged that being an aged man with ''old ideas'', the bureaucrats often hesitated to follow his instructions and hence, persuaded his son to take reign.

Earlier, Mr Shahi was denied the oath of office on two occasions by Governor Syed Sibtey Razi as he was facing warrants.

As the controversial MLA was jailed, his father, who is not the member of the state Assembly, was administeed the oath as the 12th minister in the Koda government.

Mr Shahi surrenderd before the Garwah court on November 1 and was granted bail.
