Bhan interim chief of CSIR, Committee to select new CSIR DG
New Delhi, Jan 3 (UNI) Mr M K Bhan, Secretary in the Union Department of Biotechnology, is likely to take over an additional charge as Director General of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) till a new incumbent is appointed.
The government will soon set up a committee to appoint a new (CSIR) chief in place of food technologist Dr V Prakash who could not take charge on health grounds.
The search committee will be set up to select the new head of CSIR, Union Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal told UNI but declined to give a specific time-frame.
Dr Prakash, who was was to take over from Dr R A Mashelkar on January 1, could not assume office as he is seriously ill.
Dr Prakash was the Director of Food Technology and Research Institute, Hyderabad, when he was appointed the CSIR chief, according to sources, UNI YJ PA BD2140
