81 'Sangam' members and naxals surrender
Jagdalpur, Jan 3 (UNI) Eightyone 'Sangam' members and naxals have surrendered before police in tribal-dominated Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, police said today.
''In the past few days, several 'Sangam' members and naxals had surrendered to police,'' Bastar range Inspector General of Police R K Vij told reporters here.
While 30 ultras surrendered, rest were 'Sangam' members. Some naxals were carrying rewards between Rs 2,000 and 15,000. Six guns, sharp weapons and naxal literature were seized from the spot.
Members of Nitya Mandli members were attempting to create sympathy for naxalites in the hearts of villagers, he added.
