33 lakh fraud in MSEB employees society in Katol
Nagpur, Jan 3 (UNI) The police have booked two former office-bearers and two former employees of Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) Employees Cooperative Credit Society's branch in Katol, about 60 kms from here, for defrauding the society of Rs 33 lakh by preparing fake documents.
According to police, Rajendra Potamkar was the Chairman, Ratnakar Gotmare the Secretary, Sanjay Dange the Manager and Pradeep Jawade, a clerk in the Katol branch between 2000 and March 2006.
The four prepared fake documents to unlawfully withdraw Rs 33,37,803 deposited by members in the society's account, police said.
The fraud was detected during an audit recently, they said. The Katol police have registered an offence under sections 420, 408, 409, 467, 471 and 34 of IPC against Potamkar, Gotmare, Dange and Jawade.
