Self centre exam scheme to continue in UP Board
Allahabad, Jan 2 (UNI) In a significant order, Allahabad High Court today stayed the order of a single judge, whereby self centre examination (SCE) scheme introduced by Uttar Pradesh government in UP Board was quashed.
Following this interim order, the UP Board High School and Intermediate Examinations 2007 will be held on the basis of SCE scheme.
The bench has fixed March 1, 2007 for the next hearing.
The order was passed by a division bench comprising Justices S R Alam and Sudhir Agarwal on a special appeal filed by the state government.
The HC also stayed the order of the single judge, wherein it was directed that Brijmohan Meena will be the secretary of state secondary education department.
The court also stayed that portion of the order, wherein the court had directed it would monitor the case.
Arguing on behalf of UP, advocate general S M A Kazmi contended the impugned order of the single judge of December 15, 2006 was not correct as neither any kind of prayer or relief was sought regarding quashing of SCE scheme in the petition by the petitioner.
He argued about 50 lakh students are appearing in the UP Board 2007 examinations and if SCE is quashed at the fag end, it will lead to havoc not only for the examinees, but for the Board too.
