Karnataka Government has no move to ban lotteries
Sedam (Karnataka), Dec 30 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has no proposal to impose total ban on sale of lotteries in the State, Minister for Science and Technology Ramachandra Gowda said today.
Talking to newsmen here, he said that the government was monitoring the activities of lottery companies of other states, if they were found violating rules and regulations, the government would not hesitate to ban such lottery companies.
He said that though he was in favour of a total ban on sale of lotteries in the State, as far as administration is concerned it is not possible. Through lotteries the State is earning Rs 220 Crores per year, he added.
Earlier, speaking after inaugurating a Six-day "youth-farmers" awareness program, said that the government was committed to develop the backward Hyderabad-Karnataka Region.
