Karnataka emerges champion in Men's hockey championship

Thalassery, Kerala, Dec 30 (UNI) Last year runner-up Karnataka defeated Andhra by a solitary goal and emerged the champion of 19th South Zone Senior Men's Hockey Championship here today.

Lakshmana Rao scored the match winner in the eighth minute of the first half. Indian Hockey Federation Secretary Jyothikumaran gave away the trophy.

Tamil Nadu secured third place, beating Hyderabad 6-5 in the tie-breaker. At regulation time both the teams were locked 1-1.
