A senior police officer killed and guard injured in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 30 (UNI) A senior officer of the Jammu and Kashmir police was killed and his guard wounded in a militant attack at Pampore, on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway today.

Official sources said militants attacked Station House Officer (SHO), Pampore Manzoor Ahmad, when he was going to the main market.

Manzoor and his guard, constable Jan Mohammad, were critically wounded.

They were rushed to a hospital where the SHO died.

Security forces, guarding the highway, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to nab the militants responsible for the attack.
