Western India Shipyard forays in rig repair, ship building
New Delhi, Dec 29 (UNI) To fully utilise its capacity, Western India Shipyard Ltd today anncouned it has into rig repairs furayed and ship building at its shipyard at Mormugao, Goa.
Embarking on its main business of repairing coastal and foreign going vessels, the company is now going to utilise the facilities of its dry dock and wet repair berths, machine shops, portal cranes, skilled manpower and other utilities for the new businesses.
The company has won major repair orders for three Jack Up Oil Rigs during the period from December 2006 to mid-February next year, notching up revenues up to an extent of eight crore rupees.
The orders are from Mumbai-based Transocean Offshore International Ventures Ltd, one of the large rig operators in India.
It has successfully carried out major repairs to four Jack Up Oil Rigs namely, JUR Sagar Jyoti, Aban III, Pride Pennsylvania and Trident-2.
In addition, the construction of the 'Jock Up Barge' ship namely, PMC-1, valued at Rs 18.81 crore, for PMC Projects (India) Pvt Ltd, is proceeding smoothly and the vessel is expected to be delivered sometime in January/February next year, a company statement issued said.
