RSMML in JV with Raj West Power for power plant

Jaipur, Dec 29: Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited (RSMML), a state government undertaking, has entered into a joint venture (jv) with Raj West Power Limited for setting up of a 1,000 mw lignite-based power plant in the state.

RSMML managing director Rajat Kumar Mishra said the power plant would be set up in Barmer district with an investment of Rs 5,000 crore. He said the new JV company would be named as name 'Barmer Lignite Mining Corporation' a new state government enterprise in which RSMML would have a majority partnership of 51 per cent.

As per the agreement, lignite for the power plant would be supplied by the RSMML through its Jalipa and Kapordi mines in Barmer district.

Mr Mishra said the first phase of the power production of 250 MW of power would commence on February 2007 and the plant would attain its full capacity within a year.
