Railway Minister flags off Poorabiya Express from New Azadpur

New Delhi, Dec 28 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today said the Indian Railways would continue its focus on ensuring greater passenger convenience along with better connectivity.

As part of this endeavour, the Minister flagged off the 5280 Naya Azadpur-Saharsa Poorabiya Express in the afternoon.

The Poorabiya Express, which will cater to the travel needs of rail passengers of Bihar to the National Capital.

On the same occasion, the Railway Minister renamed the New Azadpur station as Adarsh Nagar Delhi station.

Regular operations of the 5279 Saharsa-Adarsh Nagar Delhi Poorabia Express will commence from January 6 and of the 5280 Adarsh Nagar Delhi-Saharsa Poorabia Express from January 7.

For greater facility and greater ease in crowd management at the stations in the National Capital, the train will run from Adarsh Nagar Delhi station.

While the 5279 will run from Saharsa every Saturday at 1035 hours to reach Adarsh Nagar Delhi at 1300 hours the next day. In the return direction, the train 5280 will depart from Adarsh Nagar Delhi every Sunday at 1535 hours to reach Saharsa at 1850 hours the next day.

Comprising of one AC III tier, eight Second class sleeper and four second class coaches besides two luggage vans, the train halts at Mansi, Khagaria, Begu Sarai, Barauni, Shahpur Pathori, Hajipur, Sonpur, Chhapra, Siwan., Bhatni, Deoria Sadar, Gorakhpur, Basti, Gonda, Lucknow, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Moradabad and Delhi Jn. stations enroute in both directions.

The occupancy of the Poorabia Express on its maiden run notched an impressive 91 per cent.

Present on the occasion were Minister for Labour, Election, Land and Building Department in the Delhi Government Mangat Ram Singhal, Delhi Mayor Farhad Suri and Rajya Sabha MP Janardan Dwivedi.
