Rafael Nadal gets wild card for doubles in Chennai Open

Chennai, Dec 29 (UNI) World number two Rafael Nadal and fellow Spaniard Bartolome Salva Vidal were today awarded wild card for the doubles main draw of Chennai Open 2007 which begins here from January 1.

Vidal had also been given wild card in singles main draw of the 416,000 ATP Tour event along with Indian Davis Cuppers Prakash Amritraj and Karan Rastogi yesterday.

Nadal has been seeded first in a strong singles field which will also have another fellow Spaniard and two time winner Carlos Moya, Thailand's Paradorn Srichapan and Argentine world number eight David Nalbandian.

Partnering with Tommy Robredo, Nadal had won the doubles title here in 2004.

Vidal, popularly known as 'Tomeu, will be making his debut on the ATP tour here and the youngster was given the wild card for some consistent performance in the ITF and Challenger events with a futures 36 (Vilafranca) win under his belt.
