Police receives support for cyber crime prevention
Mumbai, Dec 29 (UNI) About 25 companies have come forward to help police in spreading public awareness among the masses about cyber crime in the metropolis, said Commissioner A N Roy here today.
Mr Roy told newspersons the department has decided to conduct cyber crime awareness programme in the city throughout the year, for which 25 companies have come forward to adopt police stations or train police officer in cyber crime so that each and every police station will enable to hold cyber crime awareness programme atleast twice a week.
Currently we have 'Cyber Safety' week, now we would have to conduct programmes throughout the year. With the help of banking sector, brokers, airlines and others who are victims of cyber crime or who have on-line trading business, we would able to create public awareness in the city, the Commissioner added.
Mr Roy said the department had already trained 1,000 police personnel in cyber crime and it wants to train all investigating officers so that all of them will be able to tackle cyber crime cases.
''They wouldn't have to depend upon the Cyber Crime Cell for investigation,'' he added.
