Manipur: Muslims to have 4 pc quota in govt job
Imphal, Dec 29: Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has announced a four per cent reservation for the Muslim community in government jobs.
Announcing this Mr Singh said though the community comprises seven per cent of the total populatiuon of the state holds only 2.57 per cent of the government's grade I and II jobs.
He, however, said the creamy layer in the community would also be identified for its benefits.
The chief minister told a news conference last night that the government was trying to give benefits to the state government employees as per central government benefits.
He said there were lots of anomalies in the pay structure now and it will be rectified accordingly.
Referring to the proposed Tipaimukh dam in Churachandrapur district which was a raging controversy across the state, he said the government was ready to review the proposal.
