Moily seeks speeding of railway and road projects in Karnataka
New Delhi, Dec 29 (UNI) Chairman of Administrative Reforms Committee M Veerappa Moily met Union Railways Minister Lalu Prasad and Surface Transport Minister T R Baalu, to seek speeding up of various Railways and Road projects in Karnataka.
With Mr Prasad, Mr Moily sought expeditous completion of Hasan-Mangalore broad gauge line without any further delay and due clearance from Railway Safety commissioners.
During the meeting, Mr Prasad agreed to expedite gauge conversion of Gadag-Sholapur, Kottur-Harihar New Broad Gauge Railway Line, Hubli-Ankola New Railway Line besides Commuter Rail System for Bangalore City, Bidar-Gulbarga Railway Line Munirabad-Mehaboobnagar Railway Line and the Shimoga- Talguppa Railway Line.
With Mr Baalu, Mr Moily sought a concrete road to NH 48 from 226 to 270 KM Shiradi Ghat Section at an approximate cost of Rs.90 crores, strengthening of NH 17 (Coastal at an approximate cost of Rs.40.00 crores, upgrading the 108-km-long Bagalkot-Bhanapur via Badami as National Highway, Belgaum-Bagalkot-Raichur-Mehboobnagar (Andhra Pradesh) road 336 kms), the Chitradurga-Holalkere-Hosadurga-Chikkamangalore-Mudigere-Belthang and Bantwal-Mangalore (to join NH-17) road which exteneds 283 kms.
