Maoist couple's dead bodies handed over to their family: police

Visakhapatnam, Dec 29 (UNI) Police Superintendent J G Murali today said the bodies of the Maoist couple, Chandramouli and Karuna have been handed over to their family members.

Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh High Court had ordered to preserve the bodies after performing a post-mortem at the King George Hospital.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the family members requested the police to provide an ambulance to take the bodies of the couple to their native place in Karimnagar district.

Mr Murali clarified that yesterday's exchange of fire at Panasapalli village and Jamparlova in GK Veedhi Mandal was not an encounter.

The Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC) was only crying foul, he alleged.
